Bachelor of Architecture University of Idaho 1989

I have always wanted to be an architect for as long as I can remember. I grew up living in a house on a lagoon in Manahawkin, New Jersey. So I've spent plenty of time out on the bay in a boat and going to the beach on Long Beach Island. The Jersey Shore was and still is a great place to grow up and visit. After high school I had the opportunity to move to Alaska to spend some time with my mom before going off to college full time to study architecture at the University of Idaho in 1985. While living in Alaska I was hired by a architectural firm and worked as a draftsman on a few large projects, including the new Anchorage Police Headquarters and one of the last North Slope housing projects for ARCO up at Prudhoe Bay.

I'm married to a lovely woman with 4 children, 3 boys and 1 girl.... so I know about family life. Growing up in Manahawkin, NJ (graduated from Southern Regional High School in 1983) I have experienced all the Jersey Shore has to offer and know the area well. I enjoy spending quality time with my family, which running my business from a home office allows. I have been a stay at home dad now for over 17 years, so I know my way around the house.

I have been working in architecture and construction on Long Beach Island and the surrounding area since 1988. I have been a licensed architect in the state of New Jersey since 1995. In 1995 I also became a member of the AIA, American Institute of Architects. I established my own architectural firm in 1997 after working 7-1/2 years for a local architect. I decided to open my own firm, where I'm better able to service the architectural needs of my clients, in a more personal way through all phases of their project. Since opening my office in January of 1997, I've had the opportunity to work on many different types of new construction and renovation projects at the Jersey Shore.
3) Documentation of existing conditions
For renovations and additions, if correct and to scale drawings of the existing building are not available; I will measure and photograph the existing building as required. Then prepare existing condition drawings at 1/4" = 1'-0" scale of the floor plans and two elevations. These existing condition drawings will be used to generate correct to scale schematic designs of the proposed project including all found elements and conditions.

4) Design development phase
In the design development phase the refinement of the design continues. At this time interior and exterior materials, finishes and details are chosen. Notes are made for the project manual. Design development drawing which are 1/4"= 1'-0" hardline drawings of the floor plans and all four elevations, are sent to the owners for review. The architect meets with the client to review the design development drawings at the site or office to discuss the project. After any requested changes to the design are made and with the clients final approval of the floor plans and elevations the project moves on the construction document phase.

If a variance is required by the zoning board of adjustment for the project. I can provide documentation of the proposed design to the board of adjustment for their review. Also I can be available at the zoning board meeting as the architect of record, to answer any questions regarding the design and help support your case.

We spend more time living and working inside our homes and buildings, not out on the street admiring them. So if the interior spaces don't work, the client will not be completely satisfied with the final outcome of the project, no matter how well it looks from the outside.

Not only is functionality a high priority of the design, but also the final cost of construction. It does not matter how good a proposed project looks on paper if it is never built, or to be built with unique details that have to be changed or removed because the project was designed outside of the client's budget.

Please give me a call to discuss the architectural needs of your next project and set up your first complimentary on-site meeting. I look forward to hearing from you. Contact the architect to bring unique design elements to any building.
